Dr. Linton Powell’s 42nd Annual Faculty Organ Recital
This Thursday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m., at St. Mark’s, Dr. Powell, St. Mark’s Church organist, and UTA Professor Emeritus, will present his 42nd annual organ recital with compositions by Couperin, de Arauxo, Guilmant, Merkel, Mompou, plus, and J.S. Bach. In addition, Dr. Powell will play two of his own recent compositions. The music, ranging from early 17th century to now, will display the beautiful colors of the Casavant organ at St. Mark’s. The work by the Belgian composer Jean-Marie Plum is especially interesting in that it uses the famous chime melody of Big Ben in London.
