February 19th is World Mission Sunday! Every year this Sunday is an opportunity to both celebrate and encourage one another in our efforts to proclaim the Gospel in both word and deed.
“In that day you will say: ‘Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.’” Isaiah 12:4
Through ARDF and our partners, much work IS taking place around the globe. However, there is much more to be done to participate in God’s global and great commission.
The Anglican Church in North America and Anglican Global Mission Partners have teamed up to provide you with helpful resources to make this special day spiritually challenging, prayerfully engaging, and practically motivating. You can check out these resources at www.newwineskins.org.
If you are active in your church, we’d love to challenge you to do something different this year. Plan a mission training day, organize a lunch or dinner event, invite a guest speaker, or host a special Sunday School class focused on world mission and play the “God’s Passion for the World” video. There is even a study guide you can download. Why not highlight the global projects and partners that your congregation supports, and take up a special offering on their behalf? If your church has not yet supported global missions, check out some of ARDF’s newest projects for ideas.
Other resources offered online include a prayer Litany for Mission and special excerpts from the Kenyan Eucharistic Liturgy. If you have never read through this liturgy, you must!
