“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1) In the English of yore this meant that we have no need for anything, that the Lord will provide all. Unfortunately in the English of today we are more likely define ‘want’ as a desire to have something. (Wormwood does his job well) So if one reads this passage as a stand-alone truism, then we can conjure up a myriad definitions to suit our own purposes, voila we have God in a box put safely away in a closet for future use, after all we are Christians and its only proper to keep God around.
”Thou shalt have no other gods before me ” (the first commandment). Too often we say ‘ok I got it , he’s in the box in my closet waiting for me to call him when I need him’ after all we have a life to live. Here is when we need to remember who is in charge; and specifically who already stated’ that we shall have no ‘WANT’.
It is time to open open the closet, and open the box and allow God to lead our lives through the Holy Spirit, and and proclaim the kingdom, opened for us by Jesus, heal the sick and raise the dead.
